Alumnus Mitchell Schuh works in the construction industry in the city of Abu Dhabi, the capital city of the United Arab Emirates. He graduated with a bachelor's in electrical engineering technology. ("I understand electronics.") He had a minor in music technology. ("I know what sounds good.") And he worked on productions at the Rozsa: ("I know how to install it.") While at Tech, he was a member of the Keweenaw Symphony Orchestra and the Concert Choir. He also was student director of the Pep Band. While here in November, he said he misses the people at Tech—he singled out Aleksandr Sergeyev (SOT), Christopher Plummer (VPA) and Nicholas Enz (VPA)—as well as what he calls the "rambunctiousness" of the Pep Band, which was a high note of his student days. For the next year, a sketch created by Computer Science major/Visual Art minor Esther Chuah Hooi Lean will hang in the Michigan House of Representatives' Anderson House Office Building in Lansing. It was selected as part of the Arts in the Legislature project that displays artwork by one student from each of Michigan's 15 state public universities. She is a student of Susanne Kilpela.
For the first time this year, NSF issued detailed funding rankings for non-science and engineering fields.
